2:40 PM A Pedagogy First System: Articulating Stakeholder Requirements to Drive Innovation in Practical Learning

Learning & Teaching for a Physician Associate profession requires clinical history taking, diagnosis and management of acute or chronic illness.  In HE, these skills tend to be based upon a sound knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology, usually epistemologically organized into a systems approach. Unfortunately, the application of theory to practice can be lost in translation.  With this in mind, the presentation will describe:
  • A needs analysis tool used to determine the design: Learning practice in “real time”
  • Collaborative approaches with colleagues and external companies to design a laboratory space that puts students at the centre of their own learning journey
  • Design approaches that enabled a democratic approach to planning their own interactions
  • Leveraging technology to enhance, excite, challenge and immerse students in the subject
  • Designing and developing a space that can utilise problem based case studies
